We have exciting news to share! Earlier this week, SAGE results were shared with the general public. Granite was #1 in the state for percent of students proficient in Science. We were #13 in the state for percent of students proficient in Language Arts. Also, we were #28 in the state for percent of students proficient in Math. Congratulations Granite Grizzlies! On Tuesday, November 11th Canyons School District Board members will recognize and honor Granite Elementary for our science scores being #1 in the state! This was made possible because of our dedicated teachers, amazing staff, committed community and outstanding students. Thank You! Individual student results will be coming home in November along with report cards. SAGE is the new assessment program created by the State Office of Education. As we look at the data, please remember not to compare SAGE results with previous CRT results. We look forward to continued growth and improvement as we strive for educational excellence and rigorous learning.

Granite Elementary is seeking to hire two 17-hour classroom assistants to support our kindergarten and 2nd grade classes. We are looking for interested adults with the ability to work in small groups to support reading and math instruction, assist the teacher with administrative functions, and any other pertinent role to create a safe, healthy learning environment. A GED or high school diploma is required. Any higher education is preferred. If you are interested or know anyone that might be interested please contact Granite Elementary for further information.

As you know, our elementary schedule changed this year. School begins at 9:00am and ends at 3:30pm. Please drop your students off no earlier than 8:50am and be here a few minutes before 3:30pm to pick them up. Adult supervision is only outside 15 minutes before the bell and 10 minutes after the bell. We appreciate your support as we work together to keep our students safe before and after school.

As we often use November as a month to reflect on what we are thankful for, this quote is a good reminder to share with our students.

Live Each Day With Gratitude

Gratitude is one of life’s greatest gifts, and it is free for the choosing. When we make this choice, we are demonstrating an understanding of our free will. Gratitude is a practice…an exercise in which we train our minds to look at the good things before us each day. Gratitude is a state of mind we cultivate in ourselves that enables us to understand that often it is our greatest challenges and losses that bring us our greatest lessons. Gratitude is the place from which we recognize life’s compensations that are always before us, so we can enjoy each day with thanksgiving.
