Grizzly Growl: March 14, 2025

Dear Granite Families,

It has been amazing to see our Grizzlies so excited about reading! Granite students have read nearly 130,000 minutes in the past two weeks!!! I can’t wait to see how many more we read in the next 2 weeks. As a reminder, your students can access SORA, an ebook library, through our school library links on our website.

As always, thank you for supporting our wonderful school community. Please reach out anytime with questions or feedback.

Warmly,
Elcena Saline

Teacher of the Year 2025

A massive congratulations to Mrs. Taylor Schwalbe – Granite’s Teacher of the Year! Ms. Taylor is our K-1 EEC teacher and she is incredible. She goes above and beyond to meet her students needs and help them grow every day. We are so excited to celebrate her skills and achievement!

Get Ready for Kindergarten!

Ready or not… kindergarten orientation is next Friday! We’re changing the format from a formal presentation, to a tour of your students’ day at school. Please bring your student, along with their immunizations and birth certificate if they haven’t been uploaded yet.

You’ll be welcomed in our kindergarten class, then tour the kindergarten area to learn about a day in the life of a kindergarten grizzly! We look forward to seeing you there.

PTA Information

We are officially two weeks into the Granite Read-a-thon for March! We have seen some impressive reading minutes turned in, with over 60% of students participating. Team Black Bear was leading week 1, however this week Team Panda Bear has taken the lead with more than 45,000 minutes read both weeks! In total, Granite students have read close on 126,000 minutes in TWO weeks!

Tuesday this week, marked the first store where students who returned their reading trackers could shop the store and spend their “Bear Bucks”. This is such a fun incentive for the students. The store will run every Tuesday throughout the month, and also Friday March 28th.

The PTA still has multiple volunteer spots that parents can sign up for to help throughout the month with read-a-thon activities. Even if you can only spare an hour, we would love your help! Please just ensure you have completed your volunteer background check first with Canyons School District.
