Communication Procedures

Granite Communication Procedures

Consistent two-way communication between home and school is an important factor that will help to facilitate each student’s success. Communication may occur through: phone calls, emails, student planners, progress reports, report cards, appointments, and through Skyward. At no time should a parent be in doubt of their child’s progress. It is highly recommended that a parent contact their child’s teacher to review an issue or concern, prior to calling the school administration. Information such as attendance, lunch balances and more can be instantly accessed from home by visiting Skyward.

Parent Square – Most communication from teachers and administration will be through ParentSquare. Parent Square was adopted by the Canyons Board of Education in 2022 in order to streamline communication and create a single platform for families to access. Parent Square has an app, but it is not necessary for use. Information will automatically be sent to your email and/or phone listed in Skyward. Information will also be automatically translated to the preferred language listed in Skyward. A weekly update will be sent to parents from Principal Saline each Friday afternoon.

School Website – The Granite Elementary website is an excellent source for everything you need to know about our school. Visit the website regularly to get up to date information about Granite, calendars, PTA, School Community Council, interactive student websites, and curriculum resources.

Check it out at: https://granite.canyonsdistrict.org/

Skyward – Our school district uses Skyward as the web-based system for tracking student information, attendance,  and tracking/paying lunch accounts. Skyward is also where you will schedule Parent Teacher Conferences and kindergarten assessment appointments.  Each guardian has a family access login that gives you access to each of your students’ information K-12. This login information is mailed home, but if you are unsure of your login information, please contact the office.

Planners & Homework Folders – In grades 1-5, students receive planners or homework folders, with important dates and documents that include: classroom newsletters, notices of school related meetings, field trip permission slips, and information about school holidays or events. Please check these regularly.

Other Communication – You are always welcome to reach out to our office, administration, or teachers through Parent Square messages, email, or phone as well. Please allow 24 hours for a response. Contact the office in case of an emergency.
