Volunteer & Visitor Policy

Granite Volunteer & Visitor Policy

Volunteering in the School – We are very happy to welcome volunteers into our building. All volunteers must complete a brief background screener at least 48 hours before volunteering with students. Please complete this screener on our school website. Parents who have not completed the screener will not be allowed to volunteer in the classroom or on field trips.

Access the supervised volunteer screener here: https://volunteer.canyonsdistrict.org/volunteersystem/#!/application/volunteer//

When you arrive to volunteer, please sign in to the front office in order to record your service hours, and get a name tag. Name Tags must be worn and visible at all times for student safety. Adults in the building without a visible name tag will be directed to the main office by school staff.

Volunteering on Field Trips – We are very appreciative of adults who agree to chaperone field trips. All adults participating in a field trip must complete the background screener at least 48 hours before the field trip. Per CSD policy, on field trips, chaperones must remain two-deep. This means that, for the safety of students and adults, no volunteer may be alone with students at any time. All volunteers need to be in pairs or in the eyeline of a school employee at all times.

Visitors – There are occasions when an adult comes into the school and will not interact directly with students, for example to watch a student performance. These visitors are required to enter and exit the building through our main office, but do not need a badge. Any visitor who wants to visit a classroom must check in at the office and get a badge.
