Grizzly Growl: December 12, 2026

Dear Granite Families,
As the weather turns chilly and the excitement of the holidays starts building, we know this time of year can make it a little trickier for some students to regulate their emotions and energy. December is a great time to practice regulation.
We can work together to help kids thrive through December by keeping routines consistent, offering extra reassurance, or practicing simple breathing or mindfulness strategies together. With your support and our shared focus on connection, we can help all students feel grounded and successful through this festive season.
As always, thank you for supporting our wonderful school community. Please reach out anytime with questions or feedback.
Warmly,
Elcena Saline

What is too sick for school?

Tis the season for viruses and sniffles. I know it’s tricky to decide when to keep students home and when to send them back to school – especially for working parents like myself.
We want students to be at school as much as possible, but if they can’t participate in daily activities, they should be home.
Kids must be home when they:

  • Have a fever (100.4+) with symptoms of illness
  • Have a fever over 101
  • Have an excessive cough (can’t speak or move around without coughing)
  • Strep throat (until 12 hours of antibiotics)
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea that may cause accidents

Please see the attached Canyons District Exclusion Guidelines document or call our office for more information.

Thank you to everyone who has participated in the 1000 Acts of Kindness. Our hallway is looking so good. We love seeing all the good the kids are doing this season. Keep it up!

We have a spirit night at Classic Skating on January 22. It will be such a fun night for the kids to play and the adults to chat.

We are looking for people who are interested in being on the PTA board next year. It is a GREAT way to be involved at the school. Reach out to one of the current board members if you are interested.
