Congratulations to these three 5th graders who placed as top finalists in the Canyons District Speech and Debate Tournament and then went on to place in the Utah State Tournament! The girls had to choose their own topic, write an essay and deliver a 3-4 minute speech from memory. Many adults have never done that. We had a total of 11 students compete at the district level. At the state competition Olivia Petersen placed first, and Malya Elderidge placed third in Oratory Speaking, which is persuasive speaking. Rose Schnieder placed third in the Expository Speaking category, which is informational speaking. We are so proud of our whole Granite team.
