October 2 marked our first fourth grade buddies day in Kindergarten! This year we had the opportunity to include our EEC buddies as well since we now have kindergarten friends in EEC at our school. Fourth grade buddies help teach us skills throughout the year like reading, using scissors, working as a team, math and learning how to be a good friend among other important skills.
Kindergarten EEC (special needs) buddies teach our kindergarten students that there are all different kinds of people in the world and how to include and be kind to everyone. Most of our kindergarten students have never been around other children with special needs so we have had the opportunity to learn about different kinds of brains from Ms. Palmer, we learned about challenges the body can have from Ms. Hekking and we learned about compassion and inclusion from Ms. Ross. What a wonderful way to start the school year and our journey in school.
