Grizzly Growl: April 24, 2026

Dear Granite Families,
We are racing toward the end of the school year. Please make sure to read the Growl carefully each week for dates and times of events.
Our 5th grade students started RISE this week and they’re doing an amazing job! Mrs. Frickelton’s class was so happy to have her back after her maternity leave – she was very missed!
Thank you for your support of our new smart watch policy. Our students have been terrific at putting watches away in the morning, and putting them back on at dismissal. We truly appreciate the benefits of this policy including increased safety and focus during the school day.
As always, thank you for supporting our wonderful school community. Please reach out anytime with questions or feedback.
Warmly,
Elcena Saline

Last Week of Chess

What a cool experience our chess club has been this year! A huge thank you to Mr. Jensen for starting this at Granite! Our chess team was even featured in the Sandy Journal in November, and again in the most recent issue. https://www.sandyjournal.com/2025/11/12/554130/granite-elementary-makes-the-right-moves-with-new-chess-club
Tuesday, April 28 is the last day of chess this year, but look for information again in the fall.

Digital Citizenship Message – April

Talking to kids about online privacy is like talking to them about not opening the front door to strangers. Help them set strong passwords  and use privacy settings. When we explain what personal information is OK to share and whom to trust, we protect them against grooming, AI companions, and other tricky situations. And even when new apps pop up and platform settings change, the human skills remain the same. Critical thinking and knowing how to assess risks—and when to get a trusted adult—is the best way to stay safe and ahead of the game.

Environmental Request Forms

As we start to prepare for next year, please know that we work hard to create balanced classes to support a positive, productive learning environment. Teachers consider individual student’s academic, social, and behavioral strengths to build well-rounded classrooms, and they use their knowledge of each student to guide placement decisions.
If you have specific educational concerns to consider for next year, please come to our office to complete this form. This is not a teacher request form, but a way to share information about your child’s learning needs and the type of environment where they thrive. To be considered, forms are due to the office by April 30, 2026.
