Dear Granite Families,
We are so lucky to have such incredible brain booster teachers at our school! Brooke Bain, Shannon Brown, Teri Gardner, Brooklin Springer, and Chelle Carr dedicate so much time and care to enriching our Grizzlies’ learning.
Not many art teachers have the bravery to start painting with kindergarten students on day one. Our library media teachers are diving into their new media curriculum and engaging students to compare and contrast donkey stories (Biblioburro and Wonky Donkey). In STEM, kids are learning how to work together to construct designs and justify the reasons for their work. I saw 2nd graders designing a doghouse that keeps a pup contained and happy – one even had a waterslide! In Playworks, our students are learning to use roshambo to solve conflicts and play games fairly and safely.
Parent Teacher Conference Sign Ups
The sign up window is open for Parent Teacher Conferences. Conferences will be held on Monday the 23rd and Wednesday the 25th of September this year. Families will need to plan on one conference per child. We are happy to facilitate a phone call, Zoom meeting, or have an administrator attend conferences that are challenging for both parents to attend. Join our Team!
We are looking for people to join our team! Our open positions are:
- Recess & Copy Aide (22 hours/week) This position could be shared between 2 people as well.
- EEC Paraeducator (28 hours/week)
- Senior Sweeper (17 hours/week) for anyone 16+ year olds. This is an amazing after-school job from 3:45-6:30pm

Book Blitz
Our 4th and 5th graders were introduced to Book Blitz Jr. today! Book Blitz Jr. is an enrichment opportunity in which students form teams, read books from a book list, and compete in a jeopardy-style competition. Families that are interested are invited to a parent meeting next Friday morning at 8:20. Book Blitz Jr. will be held on Friday mornings before school.
SALTA Testing
If your child has an insatiable curiosity, a need to explore subjects in surprising depth, or ability to quickly learn complex information, consider applying to test into Canyons District’s gifted and talented magnet program, SALTA. Students in kindergarten through the seventh grade can apply online starting Tuesday, Sept. 3.
The deadline for submitting an application is midnight on Wednesday, Oct. 4. Late applications will not be accepted. Due to the time-intensive and rigorous nature of the process for determining a student’s fit for the program, parents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the testing requirements before completing an application.

Fundraiser:
We are kicking off our annual fundraiser on Monday, Sept 9! We will be sending home a packet with all the information in students’ folders on Monday. Please be sure to check for it!
Donations will be collected online and the fundraiser runs Sept 9 – 19. (There is a typo in the packet that says it ends “Friday, Sept 19”. It is in fact THURSDAY Sept 19.)
