Thank you so much to all of the parents, friends, relatives, and neighbors who donated to our PTA fundraiser! We are so excited about the great things we will be able to do this year for our children because of your donations. We want to especially thank our fundraising chair – Alli Boothe. She did a GOLDEN job!
Additionally we want to say a huge thank you to Becca Stubbs and her Fun Run committee – Rachel Howard, Anna Jeppson, Angela Shanahan, Erin Koenig, Laura Jones, Erica Hartsell, Matt Springer, Chelsea Bach, Sarah Buchan, and Jessica Dall. The kids (and adults) had a neon ninja-kicking good time!
We have some great events coming up. Next week is the Book Fair and Books and Bagels. You can come to the Book Fair in the KIVA on Monday between 3:45 and 8 pm and Tuesday from 8-9 am AND 3:45 to 8 pm. Books and Bagels will be from 8-9 am on Tuesday. There will be bagels, donuts, coffee, juice, and a chance to browse the book fair. Please join us.
We wanted to take a second to address the potential boundary changes. Several people have asked why the PTA is not doing more advocacy for that issue. As a PTA we are not allowed to engage in any political debates, community issues or, in this case, boundary changes. Our PTA energies are diligently and consistently engaged in our children, teachers, and parents THIS year. However, we know there are many parents who would like to be organized and know more about what is happening. In that spirit, there are two non-PTA affiliated ways you can learn more. First, a parent at our school, Christie Taylor, has volunteered to learn all that she can about the changes and be a central place where parents can voice concerns and find out about how to best advocate for their children. You can contact her at christie.anne.taylor@gmail.com. Second, the district is holding a community information night at Granite on October 15th. Please join us there to learn and ask your questions. |
