One of the students’ favorite field trips year to year is getting to go to JA City BizTown. The students prepare for this trip before going. Each student is interviewed by an adult and from their rating and job application choices, they are put in a business. Each company has a CEO, CFO, and workers to support.
During class, each business prepares commercials to run on KSL TV and radio at BizTown. The students run their business with the support of parents at the field trip. They pay their bills, sell products, and take the responsibility of running a successful business as they learn what it is like to be an adult for the day.
This year Granite students also had the opportunity to run City Hall with Maddie Boothe as our town mayor. As we loaded the bus, everyone had big smiles on their faces and agreed that it had been an amazing experience.
