Dear Granite Families,
We are all now in the swing of things and enjoyed having your kindergarten students all day this week! I got to spend a little time with them in art and STEM and participate with them while they built towers and painted sunsets. Students are rising to expectations and already learning new things.
Back to School Night
Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for Back-to-School Night! It is always good to see you and have the opportunity to share school experiences with you. To anyone who was unable to attend, please click the link below for the school information video.
We did hear some feedback that families would prefer to have Back-to-School Night before school starts. Our school team will discuss this with our school leaders, PTA, and SCC. Please share your input if you have strong feelings either way. Thank you! https://youtu.be/cY6lbnH70EE
Join our School Community Council
Serving on a School Community Council (SCC) is a wonderful way for parents to be actively involved in their children’s education. In the Canyons School District, School Community Council members review school data, identify school needs, establish school goals, and allocate funds toward accomplishing those goals. Every year, each School Community Council creates school plans and reviews district plans with the overarching goal of addressing their school’s greatest academic needs and creating a safe learning environment. The Granite Elementary SCC can up to 20 total SCC members (17 parents/3 staff members). Time commitment includes meetings once a month except in June and July. The meetings are usually held at 4:15pm on the second Monday. SCC members must commit to attend a minimum of 70% of the scheduled SCC meeting during the school year. Applications are due by September 5th.

Communication and Device Reminder
Parents, please remember that all communication with your student must come through the office. For the safety of your student, adults need to know when kids need help or feel sick. We also need to be aware of transportation changes. If students reach out to you on their smart watches, please ask them to tell an adult in the office what they need. Thank you for helping us keep your students safe.

Message from PTA:
Spirit Wear:
Thank you to everyone who turned in t-shirt size forms for your students! T-shirts will be handed out to each student on Sept 20 in conjunction with our fun run! For families who would like to order additional spirit wear, i.e. additional shirts or sweatshirts for family members or students, please go to Granite.Givebacks.Com/Store to place your orders.
Help needed:
We are still in need of filling our President elect position on the general board for PTA. If you are considering this, right now is the best time to join us! You’ll have all year to learn the ropes and we will make sure you are set up to succeed in the future!
Next Meeting
Wednesday, Sept 4 at 10:00 am at the school. This will be our first general meeting and we will be voting on our proposed budget. A copy of the budget has been emailed out to all PTA members through our website at Granite.givebacks.com.
It’s still not too late to join the PTA!
Please visit Granite.givebacks.com/store to renew your membership for this school year. Every family who joins the PTA will receive a school directory as well as be entered into a drawing to win a family day at UpTown Jungle.
