Dear Granite Families,
Next week is our 2nd Annual Inclusion Week at Granite! Granite is an exemplary school in inclusion practices and we enjoy the opportunity to talk about different communication styles, skills, abilities, and talents among our student body. Please reach out if you have any questions.
As always, thank you for supporting our wonderful school community. Please reach out anytime with questions or feedback.
Warmly,
Elcena Saline
Inclusion Week
During inclusion week our students will learn about different communication styles like language, sign, AAC devices, etc. and celebrate the things that make each of us unique and special. Students will make buddy books in each class talking about how we can be respectful to all and include others.
- Monday – inclusion pep rally led by our Speech Language Pathologist, Ms. Palmer & distribute friendship bracelets to all students
- Tuesday – Thumbprint poster made at lunch
- Wednesday – Decorate a puzzle piece for school mural
- Thursday – Dress in your favorite color
- Friday – Dress in your Granite tee-shirts & EEC Sports Day!
Device Reminder
Santa brought watches and phones to many of our Grizzly students over winter break. Please remember that student devices need to be silenced during the day and may not become a distraction to the learning environment. Phones should always be kept in backpacks; watches may be worn if silent. Teachers reserve the right to confiscate a device that is being used or causing a disruption during the school day.
We need your support to communicate with your child through the office. Students using their watches to text or call others during the school day is distracting to the learning environment and can create safety and privacy risks. Students may use personal devices before 8:55 and after dismissal. Thank you for your help in this matter.
Student Council Food Drive
Each year our student council hosts a food drive for the Utah Food Bank. Please send any shelf-stable items with your child between February 5-February 14. Thank you for supporting our student council in their annual service project!
Milk with Home Lunch
Families, this is a friendly reminder that if your child brings a home lunch, they must have a positive account balance to get a milk. School lunch program regulations are very strict and we appreciate your help in this matter. We never want to deny a student milk. Water is also available for students.

PTA Information
Hello Parents and Families!
I cannot believe we are more than halfway through our school year!
We need you to fill spots on the executive board for the PTA for next year! If you are interested in being involved behind the scenes, helping to make decisions about the budget and having a great time with amazing people next year, please reach out! I am happy to answer any and all questions. Being on the board is not a huge time commitment. We meet monthly and have a few other duties outside of that. Don’t be shy!
We are looking forward to another Book Fair and Books & Bagels event at the end of February as well as our first spirit night ever at Impact Ninja! Make sure to mark your calendars with the dates:
FEB 6: Spirit Night at IMPACT NINJA
FEB 24-26: Book Fair
FEB 25, 8:00 am: Books & Bagels
Volunteers needed!
We are also looking forward to our PTA Read-A-Thon coming up in March! This is maybe our most exciting and loved event of the year and we need a small army to make it possible. We are looking for helpers to count minutes, run the store, help out with the glow party and so much more. Please reach out to Stephani Koefed @ 801.664.6035 to see how you can help out with the Read-A-Thon.
Thanks,
Bridget Smith
