It’s 2023! I hope you all had safe and fun-filled winter breaks. I have thoroughly enjoyed seeing all of our students back at school this week. We’ve gotten back into the swing of things very easily and learning is underway. We had our winter benchmark reading tests this week and there is a lot of student growth to celebrate.
We had a great time celebrating all of our Reflections participants today! Every student who participated received either a certificate, a medal, or a trophy. Please reach out if these didn’t come home. Way to go to all of our creative and artistic Reflections participants and award winners!
Book Blitz – The first Book Blitz meeting for any 4th and 5th graders is Monday during lunch in the library. Students will learn more about the competition and program, ask questions, and receive the book list and their parent permission slip. I can’t wait to get into the practice sessions. The Book Blitz teams will meet each Monday during lunchtime.
Parking Lot Reminders – Families, please drop off and pick up students in the drop off lane only. Cars dropping off in the parking lot will be asked to park in a parking space and walk their children to the sidewalk. We have many busses and parking lot drop offs and pick ups are not safe. Please also keep in mind that we have several students whose adults use accessible parking spots. Please reserve our handicap parking spots for families with accessibility needs. I deeply appreciate your support in making sure all of our students are safe each day.
Tech Tip of the Month – Technology can bring about tricky situations where kids may need support to make thoughtful decisions. A family media use agreement can help kids to preemptively think through important questions around tech use and guide them in making the most out of their technology use. https://cnyns.org/3hEDm1W
Supplemental Kindergarten – I am very pleased to announce that Granite will be offering Supplemental Kindergarten next year. This is a tuition-based all day kindergarten program. Families can apply to enroll starting January 25th at 10:00a.m. Families will be notified of their acceptance or wait-list status on Feb. 15. As with all kindergarten programs, students must be 5 years old before Sept. 1, 2023. Applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Please call our office or see the district website or CSD Parent Square post for more information. A flyer is also attached below.
