Dear Granite Families,
I love this time of year. My mom used to tell me that, “education is the most important thing in the world,” and I have learned throughout my life that I agree with her. I am so grateful to be part of a school community that works so hard for students and care so profoundly about their success and wellbeing.
As always, thank you for supporting our wonderful school community. Please reach out anytime with questions or feedback. There is a lot to read today, but there will not be a Growl next week. Look for the next one on Dec. 6th.
Warmly,
Elcena Saline
Warmest Wishes to Mrs. Laura Bossard
Next week, we will bid a warm farewell to Mrs. Laura Bossard, our incredible EEC teacher. She has been a champion for students with disabilities for over 20 years. Please join us in honoring Mrs. Bossard’s remarkable career and wishing her all the best in the next chapter of her life, which will no doubt include lots of time in our beautiful mountains and service to her family and community. Her countless contributions to our school community have made a lasting impact, and she will be deeply missed by both staff and students.
Mrs. Bossard’s class will be in the very capable hands of Mrs. Lynette Plott. Mrs. Plott has worked in Mrs. Bossard’s classroom for many years, and will step into the role of long-term substitute teacher beginning Monday, December 2.
Guardian Stakeholder Survey
Granite Elementary is always seeking to improve our safety, systems, and academic program. Please share your experiences and insights (positive and constructive) by completing your Stakeholder Survey. Surveys were sent to all guardians listed in Skyward and should be found in your email, sent from Canyons School District. Thank you!

PTA Information
1000+ Acts of Kindness
The PTA is excited to announce we will be having a school wide service project during the month of December! Our goal is to perform over 1000 acts of kindness in our community over the month. Students, faculty and staff will be able to write their acts of kindness on colored strips of paper that will form a massive chain around the halls of our school. So if you are in the building in December, be sure to check it out!
We will be sending home more information so be sure to check your students’ folders for all the details.
Volunteer Opportunities
We need a small group of volunteers who can help assemble and organize large games and tables in December. The time and date is TBD and I will be sending more information after thanksgiving.
PTA Meeting
Our next board meeting will be held on Jan 8, 2025!
