We made it through the first 6 weeks of school! Our students are adjusting to the new normal with a positive attitude, GRIT, and hard work. We are thankful for your support, commitment, and dedication.
Happy Fall!
With fall comes brilliant colors everywhere, even in our food. This is the season for everything pumpkin…including everything squash and sweet potato. These fall foods are packed with antioxidants and are anti-inflammatory. They also come loaded with ingredients such as Vitamin A, to help our vision, organs, and our immune systems. They contain fiber, which helps to slow digestion and control weight. These foods also offer us the opportunity to be creative with how we cook these foods. Pumpkin can be added to oatmeal, pancakes and bread. Sweet potatoes can be roasted or baked (add a little avocado or olive oil and some of your favorite spices. One of my favorite dinner recipes is sweet potato tacos:
- Bake your sweet potatoes
- Sauté your lean hamburger (add a little avocado oil to the pan)
- Mix in your favorite taco seasoning (Traders has a heart-healthy one)
- Split your potato and add a big spoon of meat
- Top with diced tomatoes and avocado
- YUM!

Canyons District will be moving to a Blended Learning Model beginning Monday, October 5, 2020. This plan will allow for four days of classroom learning with Friday reserved for remote, or independent learning. Teachers on Friday will hold virtual office hours by appointment for students and parents, and provide students with learning options to reflect weekly learning expectations. You will receive communication from your classroom teacher outlining their Friday learning expectations and their available office hours.
Halloween will look different for us this year. We will not hold a school parade or be able to conduct our traditional classroom Halloween parties with parent volunteers. We encourage students to come dressed in their costumes on Thursday, October 29th, and show off their Halloween style. Teachers will coordinate appropriate Halloween festivities for their classrooms. Students are still required to wear a cloth face covering.
If you have not turned in your Covid19 sign and return form, please send it to the office.
