SCC Business

  • Review current year’s LAND Trust plan, data, expenditures, and review if on course or if amendments are necessary. Submit necessary amendments.

Able to get money adjusted to our account because of the state educator’s salary adjustment.

  • Discuss and possibly finalize development of TSSP and LAND Trust Plan; may submit as soon as approved and you have the signature page. DUE; April 9.

Draft provided to SCC and BLT members. Needs to be finalized with the Building Leadership Team.

Green Benchmark passing is only showing 70% passing for RISE on ELA. 30% of students are scoring a 1 or 2. The new goal is Blue Benchmark for all students because those students are scoring 3 or 4- showing proficiency.

The Acadience test is a norm screener. It is a DOK 1 assessment. Can a student read?

RISE is a DOK 2 assessment. It tracks knowledge and comprehension of a text. State test of proficiency. Benchmark modules are available. Grades 3-5 uses them as a review of curriculum.

  • New next year:

Book Vending Machine

Ideas: Students earn a book as a reward. Give every student a book for their birthday. Students use Bear Paws to earn a token.

Monthly Book Club- Meet at lunch to discuss books. Make buttons available for backpacks to show off books read.

  • Attendance Goals to help increase attendance

Absences are a nationwide problem and also a big problem at Granite. Incentive for students for meeting attendance goals. Develop a plan/intervention to help students who are chronically absent. Increase awareness to parents.

SCC is interested in attendance by grade, by day of the week, and reason for absence.

  • Signature page confirmed and signed at the meeting where approval is passed.
  • Review Positive Behavior Plan–prepare to submit.

Vote to approve the Positive Behavior Plan 2025-2026. Stacie Zisakis motioned to approve the plan and Michelle Schmidt seconded the motion. The vote was unanimous.

  • Can we lower the temperature requirement for students to be allowed to go outside for recesses? 22 degrees seems high for a state that receives lower temperatures yearly.

Principal Report

  • FTE & Staffing

When we include EEC students in the numbers for general classrooms, it adds to our high numbers in some classes. Parents voiced their concerns about having 1 teacher in a grade. Cena discussed these concerns with her boss. We were given 11.5 teachers and Granite will pay for the other .5 as we did this year for a total of 12 teachers.

  • Advocacy–Thank you to our community for their support.
  • Read-a-thon is going well. Bear Store is every Tuesday except for the last which will be Friday, 3/28.

PTA Report

Allie Boothe motioned to adjourn the meeting and Brittany Fenton seconded the motion. Vote was unanimous.

Next Meeting: March April 14th
