Approve Minutes- Julia Sorenson made a motion to approve the minutes from March, and Michelle Schmidt seconded.

SCC Business

  • SCC Elections in the Fall- who will be returning and who needs to reapply?

  • Publicize plan and successes to the community

            Overview/Summary of SCC on Grizzly Growl

            Land Trust goal posters in each classroom next year

            Invite parents to apply for SCC at beginning of school year/Back to School Night

            Open window for applications 8/29-9/8. First meeting: Monday, September 12th

  • Review current TSSP/Land Trust Plans

  • Review School Safety Report Action Items

            The Director of Risk Management came to Granite and walked the grounds with Cena last  November. Granite is on “the list” for a camera upgrade. Cena will follow up with the district (Ryan Jakeman) about safety upgrades.

 

  • Cena will update School Rules and Policies for the 2023-2024 school year and send a copy to SCC for feedback over the summer.

 

  • Digital Citizenship, School Safety, and SNAP plans are due by November 1, 2023.

 

  • Feedback from Homework Survey on Parent Square

           15 parents responded. 9 parents said it is appropriate amount of homework

           Some Comments:

           “To come home after 6 hours of school and do more work is difficult.”

           “Homework is appropriate but came from school with ‘no homework policy’ and loved it.

           “Homework is appropriate but prefer no digital.”

            Discussed:

            State guidelines are 10 minutes per grade.

            Cena will ask teachers to not hold students back for recess or Brain Boosters if         homework is not completed.

            Homework should be review and practice not new learning.

            Homework suggestions: ST Math, Lexia, Reflex, Typing Club

            Kinder/1st Readers: Level appropriate

 

  • STEAM Night 2024—Monday, January 29th
  • Wellness Night 2024–Monday, April 22nd

 

PTA Report- PTA not in attendance

Asking for Field Day volunteers- 28 volunteers signed up out of 70 requested.

2023-2024 PTA Board elected

TSSA/Landtrust Goals: 1) 80% of students in Kindergarten-3rd grade will make at least typical progress according to Acadience Pathways to Progress. 80% of students in 4th and 5th grade will be at proficient or higher in Reading Inventory (RI) by the end of the year. 2) 84% of students are reaching benchmark according to Acadience math assessment. Our goal is to maintain and/or increase 1-2% proficiency. 3) Students will identify the qualities needed to have positive social interactions with peers and persevere through difficult tasks.
